The Swamp Princess name came up from me being from Florida, specifically in Tampa. I lived in Sulphur Springs, I lived in West Haven before and I lived in New Tampa.

I was working at Zara for a bit and walking dogs and doing shows. I got fired from Zara in New York, and I decided alright, I'm gonna survive just making music. And I did for a little bit. The only reason why I came to L.A. was because a couple labels wanted to sign me.

Right after the draft, when I came out to Oakland, there was a press conference and a dinner with the owner, GM, and Coach Nelson. We did some sightseeing and some house searching the next day, but to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. I tried to find a spot close to our gym, because I figured that's where I'd spend most of my time.

I've written several deeply personal songs this year, which I really love. Some of them came out of intense sadness. This has been an extremely difficult year for me.

I went with Lionel Hampton for three years. Out of that came a trip to Europe.
