Really, my job is to understand and portray a script, and I've found that the more I practice on my own writing, the more I can understand where a writer is coming from and hopefully be able to give the writer what they want, like how a line is delivered, what kind of tempo, technical aspects of it. I've found that it's extremely helpful.
