The real art of what we do, at least back in the old-school days, was improv. If you were a great worker, you were able to adapt and that skill developed over time because of all the traveling and working in different areas. You learned how to read a crowd.
When I left the WWE then I wasn't unhappy with the company at all.
I remember when I was in Mid-South and they used to tape interviews every Wednesday morning, and I wasn't required to go to the interviews because I was a rookie and I wasn't cutting any interviews - I was a curtain jerker. But I went every Wednesday anyway because I was going to watch those guys and I was going to glean from them.
I've played under many managers - some fantastic, some average, and some not so good. Even if it's not intentional, you log the good ideas and the bad ones.
One size doesn't fit all, and I don't have a monopoly over good ideas.
There is no single voice in fandom; there is a multitude of voices, so you listen to them all because there are some good ideas coming from everywhere, but at the end of the day, we have to use our own instincts as a guide.
The good ideas will survive.
We know how to build cross-disciplinary teams that are needed to take good ideas and make them great businesses. We're good at nurturing that kind of environment. And I do think that's something that's increasingly recognized in a lot of sectors in the economy.
