My design is no design.

My generation in Japan lived in limbo. We dreamed between two worlds.

Clothing has been called intimate architecture. We want to go beyond that.

I am neither a writer nor a theorist. For a person who creates things to utter too many words means to regulate himself - a frightening prospect.

Clothes have become more personal, more a matter of very individual taste.

I have a long list of how people call me: 'The Prince of Design,' 'Beethoven of Design,' 'the Dutch Prince of Design' and the list goes on and on and on... and also the 'Lady Gaga of Design!' I am fine with it. I think she is an amazing character who has innovated the music scene and is respected by so many people; she is surprising.

Nothing they design ever gets in the way of a work of art.

Drew definitely has great design taste. He knows what looks good in a space, and he knows how to put together a design.

I design my shots. I walk the rehearsal as the camera and say 'this is where I want to be... I want this look.
